About Miggy

Miggy Cheng is an interdisciplinary designer and storyteller exploring clothing as a language of memory, resistance, and identity. Born in Hong Kong and now based in the UK, she bridges fashion and film, creating garments that tell stories in their own right. Believing that clothing is not merely worn but lived, her designs draw on cultural history, personal identity, and emotional resonance, acting as silent witnesses to what words often cannot.

Trained in Fashion Design at the University of Westminster (First Class BA Hons), Miggy has built a cross-disciplinary career spanning over two decades. As a costume designer, she has contributed to more than a dozen international films, including Luz (2025), Dangerous Liaisons (2013), and Rigor Mortis (2014), earning nominations at the Hong Kong Film Awards and Taiwan Golden Horse Awards. Presented at Venice, Cannes, Toronto, Tokyo, and Sundance, her work is grounded in rigorous cultural and historical research, addressing postcolonial identity, intergenerational trauma, and urban memory.

Miggy is also the founder and design director of Mithmadic, a creative production house for editorials, music videos, runway styling, and exhibitions. Alongside her design practice, she mentors emerging creatives, continuing to explore how garments can reflect identity, culture, and lived experience, reinforcing her belief in storytelling through design.
